We’ve had a lot of questions about insulation in particular “Should I insulate my SheShed?”
And considering this photo was taken on September 29th! It’s probably a good discussion to have!
The important thing to note is that insulation won’t keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Insulation helps with heat transfer. It essentially traps the air and makes your heating more efficient BUT you will still need heating and cooling.
We highly suggest underfloor insulation like Expol that you can purchase from your local Bunnings. You’ll need enough for 9m2 (two packs).
“EXPOL UnderFloor Insulation is designed specifically to insulate you against the cold, damp conditions under your floor. Polystyrene (EPS) is rigid and will NOT SAG or SLUMP or lose its insulation value over time.”
Expol will fit perfectly between the bearers under your SheShed.
A SheShed log cabin doesn’t always require an internal wall lining as the solid wall structure is different to the timber frames on other sheds. You can install wall lining, it’s not complicated and gives you decorating options too eg. wallpaper. If you do want to insulate, talk to your local building supplier they’ll give you your options.
Of course! A simple heater and fan should do the trick. Speak with a registered electrician to run wiring into your SheShed! Or you can do what Trish did for her beauty studio and add a heat pump!
So to answer you question “should I insulate my SheShed” – yes! We suggest underfloor should do the trick!
