Founder Gemma wanted to create more than a range of beautiful timber cabins. As a female entrepreneur, she saw an opportunity to inspire other women to build businesses from home, pursue their passions or simply create room for the things that mattered most to them. That single idea grew into a nationwide brand. Today, SheShed is one of the most recognised kitset timber cabin brands in New Zealand and Australia.

How It All Began
“Why shouldn’t women have a beautiful space of their own?”
The idea for SheShed came about while Gemma was representing another business at a Christchurch home show. To make the exhibition stand more inviting, the company displayed a poster featuring a charming potting shed. Throughout the event, visitors repeatedly approached Gemma to ask about the shed and whether they could buy one. As the questions continued, an idea began to take shape: Before the day was over, Gemma was sitting in her car in the venue car park, registering the SheShed brand name and securing the domain. In that moment, she knew she had found her next venture.

I wanted a small artist studio and chose a kitset SheShed Star cabin. The design allowed for flexibility, ensuring I got a 'fit for purpose' studio, with a ample natural lighting. The instructions were clear and comprehensive. Engineered foundation drawings were included, and I had great back-up support from SheShed. This made the build straightforward, enjoyable and very satisfying. The overall concept, design and materials worked well. I did underestimate the build time required, however, the addition of a deck and the time spent painting was worth it. The studio is complete and the artist extremely happy with the results, as am I!
If you are looking for a high quality, great looking shed this is the place to go. The staff are incredibly helpful too. The before and after sales support is exceptional.

We are very pleased with our Tussock Cabin SheShed experience. The finished product is beautifully made and the building process via the SheShed team was seamlessly professional. Out experience with SheShed has been amazing, from the initial enquiry the service has been exceptional. We were well informed every step of the way, Jenny was easy to deal with and was prompt with all communication. The delivery arrived and we had a builder to construct it, he was happy with the instructions. It wasn't difficult to put up, we opted to have the brackets for adding insulation. We love our extra space, it is warm and looks good in the back garden. Our Son now has his own space and we couldn't have asked for an easier experience. We would totally recommend SheShed to others and if we decide to add another shed we will be going to SheShed again.
My cabin was delivered in a timely manner, and I had so much fun constructing it. Great company to deal with and their customer service is second to none. One recommendation though, is if I did it again, I would invest in the roof installation as the roof does get very warm in the summer heat.
